Saying goodbye to summer is bittersweet, but we always look forward to the gorgeous colors of fall. You update your wardrobe and decor to reflect the season, so why not update your paint as well? You don’t need to completely remodel to introduce a few autumnal colors. We have everything you need at Red Start Paint to make your fall painting project successful.
The Feelings of Fall
Thinking about how the cooler season makes you feel is a great place to start. For most people, the answer is warm and cozy. Fall allows us to snuggle up under fluffy throw blankets and enjoy the fireplace. These warm feelings pair well with warm tones, like red, yellow, and orange. However, as with all things in nature, balance is critical. Notice the cool shades in the bark of the trees and the subtitles gray skies on overcast days. Don’t feel as though you must turn every room in your home into a fall festival. Consider adding accents in these colors to rooms where your family gathers, like living rooms and dining rooms.
Rich Brown
What’s more comforting than a mug of steamy hot cocoa? Rich browns, like Mocha Brown, provide a stunning backdrop for the more vibrant colors of the season but are also very versatile. You can easily pair shades of dark brown with colors from every season by switching out decor and home accessories.
Olive
Shades of green have a calming effect, so what better hue to have on your walls? Try Tate Olive mixed with shades of brown and buttery yellow to make a statement that screams “Fall.” But, like dark brown, it also works well in other seasons. Create a fun spring color scheme by adding light pink and beige touches.
Eggplant
You can add visual excitement without overpowering a space by using Eggplant or Kalamata. These dramatic shades of purple look fantastic with dark wood stain and olive green and shine when used in a formal area of your home. You can continue using this color year round by mixing it with shades like Pelican Gray and Gentle Cream.
Wine
Red is one of the most obvious choices for fall color, but a bright apple red can be too bold, especially in small spaces. Elderberry Wine is a cozy shade with depth that’s interesting but not distracting. A shade of wine is the perfect setting to enjoy a glass of your favorite Cabernet. Deep shades of berry red pair beautifully with shades like Taupe Fedora and Lingerie.
